Garden Roses

What makes garden roses special?

The buds of garden roses (also called peony roses) are full and lace-like. As they open, the petals fill out and unfold, revealing the heart of the flower. They are called peony roses quite literally, because they recall large many-layered peonies. At the same time garden roses come in a striking variety: every cultivar differs from the next in the shape and size of its petal, in the way it opens, in the look of its heart, in its scent, in the size of its bud, in the presence or absence of thorns. A bouquet of garden roses always draws the eye.

What other roses are there?

• simple roses. Less full and less lace-like. These include, for instance, the classic red and white roses
• spray roses. Flowers with many small blooms on a single stem. An armful of these is fuller and more generous
• roses of particular cultivars that lend themselves to opening by hand. Thanks to this florists’ technique such arrangements look unusual and impressive

How to choose a bouquet of garden roses?

If you would like to follow the familiar path and still add something new, choose the cultivar White O’Hara or White Cloud instead of a classic bouquet of white roses. Or the cultivars Red Piano and Red Eye instead of a standard bouquet of red roses.
If you want something quite out of the ordinary, look at cultivars of unusual shapes and shades: Toffee, Catalina or Princess Kaori, for instance.
And remember that any of these cultivars can be assembled in a hat box, in a basket or in a vase.

Reasons to buy garden roses

• The variety of cultivars. It is hard to hold all the kinds and shapes in your head. Even if you decide to order a new cultivar every week, the circle will not close soon
• They are out of the ordinary. You have surely met people who claim that roses are too ordinary and dull. Most likely they have simply never seen our catalogue of garden roses
• The scent. Many cultivars carry a soft perfumed trail. With flowers like these no diffuser is needed
